Goals & Objectives

This Subcommittee will support existing decent and safe housing, and will promote the creation of new and/or rehabilitated housing and suitable living environment for every Tuscaloosa family by:

    • Creating safe and sustainable neighborhoods 
    • Drastically reducing homelessness through prevention and intervention of counseling and network assistance and by data collection of homeless persons/households 
    • Producing and/or preserving an adequate supply of ownership and rental housing that is safe, healthy, and affordable to people of all income levels, races, ages, and suitable for their various needs 
    • Promote housing literacy for renters and homeowners 
    • Identifying and inviting development capacity from among the for-profit and nonprofit sectors to help with neighborhood revitalization 
    • Reducing blight nuisance issues
