Tanika Rice is a native of Tuscaloosa and graduate of Central High School and the University of Alabama. She has a successful 20-year career in nonprofit management and youth programming.  She worked for Girl Scouts in Membership and Community Development managing multiple counties throughout North-Central Alabama. As a business owner, her dance studio trained hundreds of dancers. Many of whom are dancing on a collegiate and professional level. She partnered with both Tuscaloosa City and Perry County School systems to offer outreach programs to students. Since 2015,  five students in Tuscaloosa City and County Schools earned dance scholarships for college from Tanika’s program. In addition, her studio was featured nationally on Lifetime Network and Oxygen Channel. In her spare time, Tanika is a Girl Scout volunteer and Board Member for the Tuscaloosa YMCA. She serves on the YMCA Executive Committee as Secretary, Co-Chair of the Youth Development and Community Task Force and Chair of the Benjamin Barnes YMCA Advisory Council. She is excited to serve on the Project Unity Sub Committee Youth Sports and Recreation.
