Janet Sherrod, a native of Pickens County, Alabama, holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education from Hampton University, Educational Specialist in Education Administration from the University of Montevallo, a Master of Education in Mathematics Education from the University of West Alabama and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics Education from Tuskegee University.

She is currently employed with Tuscaloosa City Schools as Executive Director of Learning Supports. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Director of Student Services. Additionally, she has served as principal of Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. Under her leadership, the school was removed from the failing list. She also served as the first principal of Greensboro Middle School and the first female principal of Greensboro East Elementary School. Dr. Sherrod served the students of Midfield City Schools as assistant Principal at Rutledge Middle School and taught mathematics for Tuscaloosa County Schools.
This efficient, dependable, ambitious and hard-working educator is committed to achieving excellence in all endeavors. This has lead to the implementation of innovative ideas that changed teacher instructional practices and procedures, student behavior, as well as the overall culture, academic and socially of schools under her administration and leadership.
Dr. Sherrod is an active member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She has been married to Ricky Sherrod for twenty-four years and they are co-owners of Northport Funeral and Cremation Services. Additionally, Dr. Sherrod is the owner of Embellished. Last but not least, she loves serving others, reading, traveling, crafting, scrapbooking and shopping and she is an active member of Tuscaloosa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
