Mr. David Gay, Jr. attended Druid High School and graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master of Social Work (MSW).

Mr. Gay was the first Black CEO of Bryce Hospital. He has served on numerous Boards throughout the City and is very active in community and civic affairs. 

The Grand Marshall of the Tuscaloosa Christmas Parade, Mr. Gay has also been featured in newspapers and magazines including Jet magazine and has been featured as one of “The Little Known Black History Facts” on the Tom Joiner morning show. Mr. Gay has received numerous awards including the Career Achievement Award, Martin Luther King Man of the Year Award and Governor’s Proclamation for his outstanding contribution in the field of mental health 

Mr. Gay is a retired military officer after serving 27 years in the Alabama National Guard. He retired at the rank of Major. He has taught at Shelton State Junior College, Stillman College Business Institute and the University of Alabama. 

He currently serves as the CEO of Maude Whatley and senior Pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. He is married to Flora Bonner Gay and has two children (David and Whitney Gay) and one grandson (David IV).
